Warning: Debt reduction schemes can be too good to be true!

The recent Globe and Mail article “Beware the debt-reduction pitch” cautioned about high pressure debt-reduction schemes that do not help and in fact may harm. The Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC) is warning Canadians to be very cautious about companies that claim they can negotiate a deal to cut the amount of debt you must repay to your creditors.
