What about new employees who need more information on the market and the processes involved in selling to the USA?

If you answered ‘Yes’ to any of these questions, or have others related to selling food or beverages into the US then, OMAFRA’s highly regarded, new-to-exporting seminar may be right for you! PROFIT (Program to Raise Ontario Food International Trade) is designed to provide a working knowledge of exporting food and beverage products to the USA.

To help you with your export planning, PROFIT is being offered in a virtual format at no cost for 2020.  This highly successful ‘how to export’ program will be offered in eight, 90-minute sessions during the month of September 2020.


Topics will include:

  • Preparing to Export and the Importance of an Export Plan
  • Market Research
  • Food Safety
  • Nutritional Testing and Labeling
  • Logistics and Transportation
  • Financial Risk Management
  • US Tax Laws
  • Government Funding Programs
  • Working with US Customs, FDA and USDA
  • Selling into the US
  • Exporting to International Markets
  • Experienced Exporter Panel


This course will be offered as a linked set of eight virtual meetings, starting on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 and concluding on Thursday, September 24, 2020. Each session lasts 90 minutes, including presentation and discussion.


Reference materials will be provided throughout the courses, with a certificate of completion given to those who participate in all eight modules.


The anticipated 15+ industry speakers, including US government agencies, will provide practical industry insights to aid you in accessing the US food and beverage markets.


This free course, specific to the needs of the food industry, is ideal for staff in a variety of roles including:

  • Marketing/Sales
  • Shipping & Logistics staff
  • Support staff
  • New staff

Any Ontario-based manufacturer or seller of Ontario-made food, beverage or agriculture products are welcome to register and attend the eight session webinars.
