Tuition-Free Pre-Apprenticeship Training Programs – General Machinist and Commercial Vehicle & Equipment Technician!
Conestoga College is accepting applications for two new Pre-Apprenticeship Training Programs which will give participants insight and experience with regard to a skilled trades career and a head start on achieving apprenticeship certification. These tuition-free programs are funded by the Government of Ontario.
Starting in March 2012, the Pre-Apprenticeship General Machinist Program will be offered at Conestoga’s Doon Campus and runs full-time during the day for 32 weeks; the program also features an additional eight (8) week practical work placement experience.
This program includes multiple trade exposure in General Machinist, Machine Tool Builder Integrator, Tool Maker and Tool and Die Maker. Precision Machining common core Level 1 apprenticeship training is also included.
Note that only 24 enrollment spaces are available in the program.
Also, starting in March 2012, the Pre-Apprenticeship Commercial Vehicle & Equipment Technician Program will be offered at Conestoga’s Guelph Campus and runs full-time during the day for 23 weeks; the program also features an additional eight (8) week practical work placement experience.
This program includes multiple trade exposure in Heavy Duty Equipment, Truck and Coach, Power Lift Truck and Farm Equipment Technician. Commercial Vehicle common core Level 1 apprenticeship training is also included.
Note that only 24 enrollment spaces are available in the program.
Those who successfully complete one of these programs can go on to apprenticeship or further technical education.
Applications for these programs are open to those age 16 or older, and no longer a secondary school student. Completion of Grade 12 is preferred, but not mandatory because academic upgrading assistance will be provided.
