Supporting Employment in Manufacturing

Many manufacturing companies are indicating a need for new workers, The Workforce Planning Board of Waterloo Wellington Dufferin (WPB) has been working with local manufacturers to understand the skills sets currently in demand and have arranged a Job Fair for the industry with the financial support of the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.

Over the summer of 2011, the Workforce Planning Board of Waterloo Wellington Dufferin (WPB) conducted a study on the Manufacturing Sector in Wellington County and its ongoing recovery from the 2008 recession. An analysis of the economic data confirms that this Sector continues to be a significant contributor to the local economy. Discussions with local manufacturers and other stakeholders as well as an analysis of job postings indicated that the Manufacturing Sector in Wellington County and Waterloo Region is experiencing a resurgence in labour force demand. As a result of both the study and discussions, WPB is supporting the Manufacturing Industry with a job fair to assist manufacturing companies with filling the vacancies they have today and in the very near future. Job Fair Details Date: Wednesday November 16th, 2011 Time: 12:00 pm to 3:30 pm Location: Marden Community Centre 7368 Wellington Road 30 Guelph/Eramosa If you are a manufacturing company in Waterloo Region or Wellington County (including Guelph) and are interested in having your company participate, please contact brad@workforceplanningboard.com
