Taking advantage of international business opportunites requires new skill sets. Local businesses can take advantage of a new program to develop those skill sets and increase your access to international markets.
In today’s economy, it’s necessary to compete locally and to compete globally. Businesses everywhere realize this and are putting out plans. However, sometimes one thing gets overlooked in the rush to increase sales and market share – does your company really have the skill sets it needs to be a global player?
That’s where a new program being offered locally through the University of Waterloo comes in! The Certified International Trade Professional (CITP) is a professional designation to help companies, and the professionals who work in those companies, to develop the skills and the credibility needed to pursue international business opportunities. The accredited program involves completing courses and working to meet standards set out by the Ottawa-based Forum for International Trade Training (FITT).
Courses at the university begin in late September and continue until May of 2012. Each of the eight courses runs for two days, meaning minimal disruption to the workplace environment which is always a bonus for companies that rely on all of their staff. All applicants are tested for existing skills and knowledge in international trade and only need to take the courses where supplementary training is needed.
The best part? There are discounts for small businesses.
